Wrestling Gossip Update

Here’s some wrestling rumors for this weekend.

First of all, we now have official confirmation from WWE as to why Umaga was released. Early speculation was confirmed that Umaga had in fact failed a drug test but he had also refused to go to rehab. According to the source, this is unusual as this was his second strike.

This has made me very upset to hear that someone in this position refuses to get help for something that has now cost him his job. I know that my job, I would never do anything to jeopadise it but hey, I guess for some people they think that that is the way to go. What a great role model.....NOT!

Apparently, we will be seeing the last of Rey Mysterio. He has put in notice to WWE for his release which judging by the amount of gossip going out and about at the moment, will be soon.

This is not something that I really wanted to hear. I like Rey and I think that he is one of the main stars on the show and I really can't imagine a show without him. Mind you, I'm sure that I said that about Joey Styles and Taz when they were ring announcers and look where that got them. Who knows what the world is coming too.....

WWE IS LOOKING FOR A NEW RING ANNOUNCER!!!! This just seems silly to me when they have a really good ring announcer in Lilian but hey. They have done some weird things lately. The advert goes along the lines of they want someone, a singer, female in their 20's/30's who is young, attractive to sing the national anthem and be a regular announcer. You have to specify if you have appeared any show like American Idol.....

I'm upset by this. I like Lilian. I think she does a great job and I would hate to see her being replaced for reasons that are not her own. I don't want Lilian to go. I think she should stay there...She is fine where she is.

The UK Sub has released a report in the last few days stating that Tommy Dreamer has signed a new 1 year contract with WWE. He apparently had different options with TNA, WWE and apparently some of the smaller independent scenes but stayed with the WWE because he thought it would be safer.
Honestly, I am so glad that Tommy is still with ECW. To me, he represents what ECW is all about and embodies it all and it wouldn't be the same without him, it really wouldn't. I know I definately said that CM Punk embodied ECW and that I didn't like the fact that he was drafted but I have grown out of Punk. I will never forgive him for taking Jeff's title.

Bigger news is that Randy Orton is apparently ONE strike away from being fired for failing drug tests. The source, although couldn't quote exact dates, said that Orton had one suspension in 2007 and one in 2008. I do remember that he had one because he was among a few superstars, one of them being 'The Masterpiece' Chris Masters. There were some more at the time.
This is something that honestly, doesn't surprise me. I'm not a big fan of Orton and never have been. He's one of those that I can't honestly connect with and thats a little disturbing. As I said with the Umaga case, why would you jeoperdize your job? Why? I don't see the point. Especially Randy, he has a family legacy that he is there to represent and he's doing this? I'm not too sure on this but I'm glad not alot of the younger generation look up to him. He's a bad influence.
