Hall Of Fame Class of 2013

Hi there guys and gals,

Sorry I haven’t updated this much lately. There have been some major personal issues that I have been dealing with for the past couple of weeks and so that is why I haven’t been on here as much.

But, I have to say, during the last couple of weeks there have been some major things happening. One of which is announcements of who will be in the WWE Hall of Fame for 2013.

In my previous blog post ‘Hall Of Fame 2013’ I talked about some rumoured names that had been floating around and some names that I personally believe that should be included. And what happens but 2 rumoured names have been announced and one of the ones that I picked out has also been announced! Yay!

The names that have been formally announced are….

  • ‘Hardcore Legend’ Mick Foley
  • Trish Stratus
  • Bruno Sammartino

Now, Mick Foley was a rumoured name and I think that he deserves to be in the Hall Of Fame. He has earned  his spot there with his death defying stunts and antics.
Trish Stratus was one of the names that I had picked that I would like to see in the HOF purely and simply because she was one of the greatest women wrestlers of all time and helped pave the way for the ladies that came after her like Mickie James and Beth Phoenix.
Bruno is simply a surprise because he has declined the HOF for quite some time.
There was an ESPN article around that Bruno had done and this is what he had to say….
“In talking to Paul Levesque, I made it clear, I’ve had issues with WWE and wrestling in general, because there were other organizations. I didn’t like the direction they had taken. It was bothersome to me. I’m an old-school guy. I spent 25 years in this business. But after talking to Paul, and him explaining to me the changes they’ve made in their program, and how they’ve hired a doctor like Dr. Maroon, who is a world-renowned neurosurgeon, who also operated on me, and now that he has been put in charge of the company’s wellness program and their drug testing, that impressed me. I know what kind of a man he is, and he is a giant in that field, so I take my hat off to WWE because they took such huge steps to make things better for the wrestlers themselves and making sure they are healthy to perform. That was very, very important. But as Paul explained to me, WWE made a lot of other changes. There’s no more profanity, there’s no vulgarity in the current product, and that stuff had bothered me as well. When Paul first spoke to me and told me all the changes, I started watching it again, and I was very convinced that they are doing amazing things. I see the wrestlers and all the changes they made. There’s no profanity, there’s no vulgarity, and it’s a family-friendly program. That’s what it used to be, and that’s a huge role in the whole factor.” (ref: Backstage Update on Bruno Sammartinos HOF Induction)

I think that this is a great step for the company and I think this really shows just how good Triple H is doing behind the scenes with the company. This is a huge thing and as Triple H said in the article, “From a legitimacy standpoint, it’s important for us to get Bruno in…He’s one of the biggest names there has ever been in the business. So for us to not have him in there, for the legitimacy of the whole thing, it was a major issue. For me, the more important thing was that nobody deserves to be recognized for being a big star and paving the way for the stars of today more than Bruno. Everything that we have today in the business, Bruno was a cornerstone of that foundation. He truly is a living legend.” (ref: Backstage Update on Bruno Sammartinos HOF Induction)

Well done to Triple H and well done to the WWE Hall Of Fame Class of 2013!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you have lots of fun and take care.

John Cena Divorce Update #3

Hi there everyone,

As you know, I have been following the John Cena divorce and in my blogs John Cena Divorce #2 Update and John Cena Divorce I have discussed that Cena is divorcing his high school sweetheart Liz and that she doesn’t want the divorce to happen.

TMZ.com has story up today about one of the reason’s for the divorce. Apparently the house that they were remodelling was causing money issues between the pair and whereas a normal couple would possibly be able to deal with those sorts of issues, Cena and Liz decided to separate.

Now, when I went searching for these documents, I also found another article that actually does explain to me a little more in better words then I have, about the situation…

“Vince McMahon and his World Wrestling Entertainment company is taking the situation seriously. In the last few weeks, the WWE has put a lot less pressure on Cena, and has been trying to keep the environment around him as stress free as possible. The last thing Vince McMahon wants is to have his mega star crack under the power of divorce. John Cena has been running full force with the company for a decade, headlining pay per views, weekly episodes of Raw and numerous house shows and world tours.

As a wrestling fan for the last 20 years, I can't pretend to discern what it's like to have the fate of a million dollar organization burdening on your shoulders. Many fans and critics are quick to judge John Cena as a somewhat up-to-date Hulk Hogan. They don't realize that Cena's position doesn't just benefit Cena and McMahon. John's popularity favours everybody who works for the pro wrestling monopoly. He is not solely responsible, but his presence on WWE shows is a major influence on all the WWE employees. He is their main draw. Not because the WWE puts him in that position, but because WWE fans come out in masses to witness the hulking fighter. This most affects his peers, each of whom profit directly from working on the same shows as John Cena. Much like Hogan in the 80s, WWE stars want to work on the highest grossing events, all which are headlined by John Cena.

The fact that Cena's divorce is being attached to a house remodelling project goes to show how fragile marriage to a WWE superstar can be. Whereas an average husband and wife may have been able to seek out alternatives to divorce, such as couples counselling, John Cena isn't in a position to do something like that. There just isn't enough time in his day. I am surprised he has enough time to sleep, never mind have the time to work on his commitment to his wife. Marriage is not easy. Being a headliner for WWE is far from easy. Unfortunately, this was a recipe for disaster.

I feel badly for the "Doctor of Thuganomics." Sure, he is in a mutually beneficial position with the company, but the stress of carrying the WWE workload is brutal. Add to that the unbearable pains that divorce proceedings cause, and it's easy to see that John Cena is in an undesirable position. As not only a wrestling fan, but as a genuine human being, I hope Cena can find the light at the end of the tunnel.”

This is a very sad time I would imagine for John Cena and I can’t think of what he is going through. I honestly give him my best wishes and I hope that he gets through this.

Take care everyone,
